Our Team:The Budget and Finance Team within the SC Johnson College of Business supports strategic and transactional financial operations across our three schools, our central college units, and the Statler Hotel across our two campuses in Ithaca and NYC. This team consists of individuals who take a progressive approach to financial planning and reporting, utilizing data-driven techniques and tools to support our college's mission and enhance our organizational effectiveness.This Position: While position responsibilities vary, all people leaders are expected to foster a culture of belonging and a psychologically healthy work environment by being trustworthy; respecting all individuals; being flexible; supporting work/life integration as well as healthy boundaries; inviting new ideas, alternatives, and perspectives; speaking up and taking action if others are being excluded or treated inappropriately; and recognizing the contributions of others.Under the direction of the SC Johnson College of Business Executive Director of Finance, and as a highly engaged member of the greater finance team, this position works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and leadership within the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business and with university partners to provide financial oversight, budgeting, planning, reporting, and analysis for assigned areas within the SC Johnson college of business. This role also directly supervises, supports, guides and mentors a team of three finance professionals.The Budget and Finance Manager will serve as a financial partner to various assigned schools and central department/areas for internal and external financial reporting, budget review and analysis, forecasting and financial transactions. This role will provide guidance and recommendations on the development and implementation of financial management strategies for short and long-term fiscal operational and all personnel salary planning for the college.This position will:Interpret policies and establish review procedures to assure appropriate stewardship of university funds and compliance with university policy and procedures.Develop reports to monitor and support proactive decisions and ensure appropriate fund management and compliance.Monitor, recommend and enhance financial processes and system to improve overall collaboration, organization, and financial reporting accuracy.Stay current on College and Cornell University policies and procedures related to finance administration and participate in trainings offered by the Division of Financial Services. Provide personnel reporting and analysis to college leadership and take responsibility for all budgeting, forecasting, and reporting on faculty and staff compensation expenses.Monitor faculty research and teaching accounts in the college, including regular review with various college leaders, including College and School Deans.Required Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or equivalent; at least 3-5 years of experience at financial reporting and analytical roles; or equivalent.Proven experience connecting diversity, inclusion, and wellbeing practices to business goals.Personable, flexible, possess excellent organizational skill.Must possess integrity, honesty and a customer service-oriented mind set.Ability to handle sensitive information and communicate insights while maintaining appropriate confidentiality guidelines.Ability to develop and implement financial models, short- and long-term plans (both strategic and operational) for college units.Ability to design and develop reports that reflect metrics that will support the SC Johnson College of Business Leadership members in their decision-making process. Able to manage complex data and information and conclude key insights based upon thorough analysis.Ability to foster and develop a team. Promote cooperation and collaboration among internal and cross functional team members.Excellent oral/written communication, customer service, organizational and time management skills are essential.Time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects, while accomplishing tasks that are urgent or of sensitive/confidential nature and managing competing deadlines and priorities.Comfortable working in a fast paced, changing/evolving environment.Must be able to work independently and as part of a team while meeting tight deadlines. Ability to help establish realistic goals and deliver work on schedule.
