Hourly Rate: $25 / hour

You will report to the Manager, Workshop Operations.

POSITION OVERVIEW & PURPOSE

The Packaging Lead will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of packaging, fulfillment and distribution at our Hudson Valley workshop based in Red Hook, NY. This role will be responsible for managing, motivating, and assigning daily tasks out to a team of Packaging Assistants to ensure production goals are achieved. Additionally, the Packaging Lead will be responsible for facilitating all outbound shipping activities and ensuring adherence to retailer packout specifications. This is a physical role in a warehouse environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational Planning & Management:

Organize and oversee the packaging team, ensuring that the team completes all tasks in an efficient manner and adheres to all internal processes

Establish and communicate daily packaging goals, based on company priorities and staffing levels

Inspect all materials and finished goods to ensure products meet our quality standards; this includes scent testing and visually inspecting products as part of daily quality checks

Maintain accurate documentation of all inventory movements through paper logs and/or directly in the computer system, if applicable

Maintain packaging SOPs and ensure any changes are appropriately documented and communicated out

Oversee the receiving process for inbound packaging and accessories shipments, ensuring that all inbound shipments are QA’d and counted in a timely manner

Manage all finished goods and packaging inventory levels alongside the Manager of Operations to ensure accurate stock levels are maintained. Reconcile discrepancies promptly.

Implement process improvement, organization, and systems updates as it relates to all packaging processes

Outbound Shipping & Wholesale Fulfillment:

Coordinate shipping activities, including scheduling pickups and deliveries to wholesale partners and warehouse locations, and ensure accurate documentation and compliance

Maintain detailed documentation and ensure compliance with all retailer routing requirements, including updating external systems

Effectively prioritize and QA wholesale orders to ensure all retailer ship windows are achieved

Facilitate the packout of gifting and influencer orders as needed and document appropriately

Personnel Management & Leadership:

Create a positive and motivating work environment for the packaging team, while fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement

Provide ongoing guidance, training, and support to team members to enhance performance and improve the skills of the group

Maintain training documentation and administer training to new packaging team members on applicable processes and procedures

Evaluate employee performance, providing coaching, feedback, and corrective action as needed

Facility Management & Safety:

Maintain robust organizational systems and inventory control within the workshop and foster a neat and tidy work environment

Maintain adherence to all health and safety policies and ensure safe use of all packaging equipment, including pallet jacks

Contribute to routine workshop housekeeping and day-to-day operations of the workshop

Urgently communicate any quality, safety, or personnel concerns immediately to management

QUALIFICATIONS

3+ years of experience working in a manufacturing or fulfillment environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role

Experience in Cosmetics, Personal Care, and/or Food Production preferred

Ability to lead and motivate employees in a fast-paced, goal-oriented environment

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with ability to work efficiently under tight timelines and achieve quality results

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—both written and oral

Flexible, adaptable approach, with a willingness to tackle any task large or small

Available 9am - 6pm, M-F, with flexibility to meet shift changes as required

Basic computer skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift 55 pounds repeatedly and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach

Ability to maneuver pallets, operate pallet jack and other equipment as needed.

Ability to stand/walk for up to 9 hours during shifts
