Provides maintenance support to manufacturing personnel during the operation of manufacturing and packaging equipment and systems. Diagnoses problems and performs repairs on manufacturing and packaging equipment. Job Results & Essential FunctionsEquipment Back in ServiceProvides technical support to keep the production processes running. Helps trouble-shoot mechanical and process control systems as needed to keep the plant running efficiently and effectively. Diagnoses problems on specific types of equipment and systems to determine what repairs are required. Performs set-up and adjusts equipment according to product specifications. Insures proper assembly and operation. Assists with production operations by helping the operators run the equipment and assists with cleaning of equipment by disassembling equipment and components as required by cleaning procedures. Inspects machine parts for wear or damage; removes or replaces as required. Performs repairs to systems that support machine operations (e.g. electrical, electronic, or mechanical). Assists/performs line change overs in an expeditious manner to minimize production downtime.PM’s Completed on SchedulePerforms and documents scheduled and preventative maintenance on production and support equipment of an electrical, electronic (including PLC, HMI etc.), mechanical (including hydraulics, pneumatics etc.) nature.Production Equipment Meets Performance ExpectationsAssists in making adjustments and/or modifications to equipment to improve operational efficiency. Assists in the installation and qualification of new and existing equipment to meet manufacturers’ operational and safety requirements. Assists in refinishing of machines in production (e.g. sandblasting, grinding, painting). Assists with operator training regarding set-up, maintenance and capability of machines. Fabricates parts and enhances existing equipment through process improvements/upgrades. Calibrates and maintains electronics and instrumentation for process control devices. Provides accurate data when reporting equipment maintenance functions to capture critical maintenance metrics. Works with managers to develop plans to ensure we are on track with respect to minimizing downtime by tracking and analyzing standard metrics.Equipment Work Order Completion is Thoroughly, and Accurately Documented in the SystemDocuments any assigned scheduled and preventative maintenance work on manufacturing, packaging, and support equipment. Closes work orders by ensuring that documentation is completed that accurately reflects the situation and actions taken.Capital Project Technical Input on Design that Ensures Fitness for UseProvides input into capital project technical designs from the perspective of the day-to-day usage of the machine and prior experience with machines of a similar nature.Safety Standards Adhered toEnsures 100% compliance with required plant training programs. Follows all EHS rules and regulations. Accepts accountability for own personal safety and identifies potential unsafe conditions to help prevent self and co-workers from being injured. Complies with all site security requirements. Ensures that actions do not create a negative impact on the environment. Minimum RequirementsEducation:Requires a high school education or equivalent plus 1 to 2 years specialized training (or equivalent experience) in mechanical, electrical or electronic trades.Experience:Tech I: Requires a minimum of 1 to 2 years’ experience in electrical, electronic or mechanical trade.Additional requirements for Tech II:Job training on the various equipment supported in order to gain sufficient skill to perform the requirements of the position, or at least two 1 year experience as Maintenance Tech I position at Mallinckrodt Hobart or equivalent experience (direct experience in maintenance in the pharmaceutical industry preferred) as determined by the Maintenance Manager.Additional requirements for Tech III:Job training on the various equipment supported in order to gain sufficient skill to perform the requirements of the position, and 1-2 years’ experience as Maintenance Tech II position at Mallinckrodt Hobart or equivalent experience (direct experience in maintenance in the pharmaceutical industry preferred) as determined by the Maintenance Manager.Additional requirements for Tech IV:Job training on the various equipment supported in order to gain sufficient skill to perform the requirements of the position, or at least two (2) years’ experience as Operations Maintenance Mechanic III position at Mallinckrodt Hobart or equivalent experience (direct experience in maintenance in the pharmaceutical industry preferred) as determined by the Maintenance Manager. Perform reading, writing and speaking at a basic level; read and comprehend basic electrical/electronic schematics and mechanical drawings.

Ability to learn and work under supervision to gain solid understanding of equipment systems.

Ability to understand and work with electrical/electronic, e.g. PLC, HMI etc., controls and mechanical systems, e.g. hydraulic, pneumatic etc. with moderate supervision

Ability to work with machine shop equipment with moderate supervision.

Inter-personnel skills & abilities necessary to interact and work with other Maintenance Mechanics and production operators.

Physical Demands/Work EnvironmentPhysical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job:Medium physical demand requires exertion to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 25 pounds continuously, 25 to 60 pounds frequently and over 60 pounds occasionally. Physical demand also involves walking, standing and reaching (90%), balancing, bending and grasping (50%), talking/hearing (40%) and kneeling, climbing, and feeling (15%). Mental demand is concentrated when working with specific manufacturers’ instructions, blueprints and schematics, when working on equipment components and when recording information on required paperwork. This concentrated attention is intermittent. Visual demand is frequent and requires clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more with peripheral vision and the ability to bring objects into sharp focus, to judge distance and space relationships and to identify and distinguish colors.Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job:Exposure to product chemicals and residue requires incumbent to wear designated PPE on a regular basis. Protective clothing including shirt, slacks, safety glasses, booties, hairnet, and gloves are worn continuously in performance of the job functions.
