The Area Leader – Snow Operations plays a vital role in ensuring exceptional snow and ice management services before, during, and after winter events. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of snow operations, including planning, equipment preparation, staff management, and direct supervision during snow events. The Area Leader will work closely with both internal teams and customers to deliver outstanding service and maintain the company’s high standards.ResponsibilitiesLead and manage snow operations year-round, including planning, equipment preparation, and staff hiring and training.Collaborate with the sales team to assess service capacity and provide operational insights during the sales process.Create and maintain site maps and scopes of work for all snow sites; use these tools for crew training and management.Prepare and maintain snow removal equipment, and recommend procurement of necessary equipment and materials.Hire, train, and supervise heavy equipment operators, salt truck drivers, sidewalk crews, and other snow operations staff.Conduct pre-season site walkthroughs and inspections, document existing site conditions, and identify potential hazards.Communicate proactively with crews before, during, and after snow events to ensure readiness and effective execution of service plans.Perform pre-storm inspections of equipment and supplies to ensure operational readiness.Actively supervise snow operations during events, including on-site inspections and quality assurance checks.Monitor service delivery using company software and troubleshoot issues as they arise.Review and verify service records post-event to ensure accurate billing and resolve discrepancies.Address and document any damages or incidents during snow events, working with leadership to resolve issues promptly.Serve as a backup operator for salting and plowing as needed.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsExperience in snow operations, including operation of plow trucks, loaders, skid steers, sidewalk equipment, and related machinery.3-5 years of leadership experience in snow operations, preferably with hands-on, self-performing responsibilities.Working knowledge of snow removal equipment and best practices.Valid driver’s license.Availability to be on call 24/7 during the winter season, including weekends and holidays as needed.Proficiency with email, texting, and mobile software applications.Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to follow through on tasks to achieve results.Customer-focused attitude with excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with both internal teams and customers.Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking abilities.Ability to work independently and as part of a team.Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving work environment.Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.High level of integrity and professionalism.Physical ability to work outdoors in winter conditions, travel to sites, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
