The Snow Removal and Landscaping Worker is responsible for maintaining the grounds of residential, commercial, and municipal properties, ensuring safety and cleanliness in winter by removing snow and ice, and providing regular landscaping services during the warmer months.
Key Responsibilities:
Snow Removal Duties (Winter):
Snow Clearing: Use snowplows, shovels, and snow blowers to clear driveways, walkways, parking lots, and other exterior areas of snow and ice.
Salting & Sanding: Apply ice melt and/or sand to prevent the buildup of ice and ensure safe walking and driving conditions.
Emergency Snow Removal: Respond to sudden snowfalls and storms by clearing snow quickly to prevent accidents.
Monitoring Weather Conditions: Keep track of weather forecasts to anticipate snowstorms and prepare for necessary snow removal.
Maintain Equipment: Regularly inspect and maintain snow removal tools and equipment to ensure they function properly.
Landscaping Duties (Non-Winter):
Lawn Care: Mow, edge, trim, and fertilize lawns, ensuring that they are well-maintained and healthy.
Planting & Pruning: Plant and maintain flowers, shrubs, trees, and other greenery, ensuring proper growth and appearance.
Mulching & Weeding: Apply mulch to flower beds, remove weeds, and ensure clean, tidy garden spaces.
Irrigation System Management: Install, maintain, and repair irrigation systems to ensure that plants receive adequate water.
Landscape Design Assistance: Assist in the design and layout of new landscape features (e.g., gardens, walkways, patios) as requested.
Leaf & Debris Removal: Collect and dispose of leaves, branches, and other debris to keep properties neat and tidy.
General Responsibilities:
Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure the safe operation of equipment and personal safety during tasks.
Customer Interaction: Communicate with clients to assess their needs and provide excellent customer service.
Equipment Operation: Operate various landscaping equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, blowers, snowplows) as needed.
Work as a Team: Collaborate with other staff members to accomplish tasks efficiently.
Qualifications:
