Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS) invite applications for a Staff Psychologist to join our Counseling Center (CC) beginning in Fall 2025. As a JED Campus, HWS is dedicated to mental health and wellness, one of the key priorities of HWS’s strategic and capital campaigns.The Staff Psychologist will provide a range of clinical, outreach, and consultation services to support the mental health and well-being of HWS students. This role offers an opportunity to build meaningful connections across campus and contribute to a collaborative and dynamic team.Key Responsibilities
Provide short-term individual and group therapy for students.
Offer crisis intervention and emergency response, including participation in an on-call rotation.
Develop and facilitate outreach programs and psychoeducational workshops, occasionally outside regular hours.
Consult and collaborate with campus partners to support student well-being.
Participate in JED Campus Initiatives
Engage in case management and coordinate referrals as needed.
Other Information:This is a full-time, 10 month, benefits-eligible, exempt position. This position description is not all-inclusive as other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned. Salary range is $65,000-$75,000 annually.Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in Counseling or Clinical Psychology, or a related field, or Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field.
Eligibility for licensure in New York State; licensure must be obtained within two years of the start date and maintained throughout employment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing clinical services and outreach programming in a college or university setting.
Strong crisis intervention skills and ability to handle urgent situations effectively.
Proven ability to build relationships with students, faculty, and staff.
Commitment to supporting, empowering, and retaining students from diverse backgrounds.
