Position Summary: The Senior Application Support Analyst is responsible for assisting in the leadership of Athena Electronic Health Records System and all clinical applications. In this role, he/she will be responsible for training new and tenured Athena Support Analysts by developing collaborative working relationships and providing mentoring & guidance. The Senior Application Support Analyst will be expected to provide superior customer service to all internal & external clients as well as demonstrate superior knowledge in analyzing, developing and implementing business process system solutions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To lead the applications team in systems application; including implementation, upgrades and interfaces with other applications
Serve as the Network expert of the Athena system from both a financial and clinical perspective, continually measuring against the evolving needs
Work with management, providers and users to perform a needs assessment; develop strategy and project plan to incorporate agreed upon system modifications; identify internal team to assist in the execution
Continually research and evaluate available external data sources for potential interfacing/integration into the Athena platform; initiate interface requests when feasible and manage the implementation process
Assist the Application Support Team with the identification and development of tools for data aggregation and reporting
Continually evaluate system capabilities against the market and for internal maximization; utilize multiple sources to identify opportunities to increase the user experience and to capture data as we move from fee for service to value-based care. Develop short and long-term strategies and project plans to coincide with the Network strategy
Identify areas of opportunity for automating manual tasks by analyzing work processes and making recommendations for implementing change
Collaborate with the IT department on infrastructure/technical issues that impact the overall availability/stability of the Athena system and serve as a point of escalation for technical issues within the Application Support Team
Oversee and support training for new and existing users; create curriculum for new modules and/or functionality
Manage and maintain system tables to support Network needs and requirements
Develop reports to support end user, departmental and organizational need.
Act as a liaison between management and Athena on system issues and enhancement requests
Develop and maintain business continuity plan for the Network when normal system access is down due to unforeseen reasons; create communication plan and “tests” so users are aware and able to perform business
Provides accurate estimate of when tasks/projects can be completed, and standard reports are ready to be used
Mentors and provides guidance to team members to improve efficiency and provides support for training, meetings and operations
Collaborates with team and others to implement process improvement changes
Identifies opportunities for improvement and follows through resolution until completion
Serve as the point person for Athena Marketplace partners
Make recommendations that support patient satisfaction and/or increased efficiency
Serve as the project manager for implementation of tools
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or commensurate experience
Minimum 10-12 years systems application experience, preferably within healthcare industry
Experience implementing and supporting large Practice Management and EHR systems preferred
Knowledge of Practice management, Revenue Cycle and Electronic Health Record processes and regulatory requirements preferred
Analyzes needs, develops and implements business process system solutions
Proficiency in data analysis and tools, MS Excel, MS Access and SQL
Knowledge of Meaningful Use requirements and HEALTH LEVEL 7 (HL7) healthcare interoperability standards preferred
Project management experience a plus
The pay range for this position is $65,187 - $69,992 and will be based on experience and skill set.
