Rye Bar and Restaurant and its sister restaurant, the Garage at Rye, are looking for passionate culinarians interested in helping our restaurant grow.
At Rye, we are in need of an immediate need of a sous chef. They should be organized, creative, honest, punctual, and most importantly passionate about food. An ability to work independently while at the same time integrate into a team is crucial. They will be responsible for the cleanliness and safety of station and kitchen, ordering, contributing to menu development, leading a team in accomplishing goals, communicating with front of house about menu and orders and aid in the development of staff toward future goals.
Goals we are working toward as a restaurant group: a stable and profitable Rye, a full catering program, a dinner menu for the Garage featuring pizza, and down the road we will be adding to our corner a bodega featuring higher-end food products from local and foreign sources along with finished food products made in our kitchens.
Your immediate goal will be to run the kitchen at Rye (under the supervision of our management team including our executive chef), contribute ideas on development of the above-mentioned goals, and ultimately there will be the possibility of growth into those areas we are developing if desired.
Salary for sous chef will be commensurate with experience but we are looking for candidates who qualify for a minimum salary of $50,000 per year plus two weeks PTO after a trial period of three months. Candidates interested in a general cook position can expect to make a minimum of $20/hour plus one week PTO after a trail period of three months. (PTO does scale with time)
