Req Number 117717Job DescriptionSchedules, assigns daily duties, and assesses the general performance of the nursing staff in the practice. Performs a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for the admission of patients, utilizing the Nursing processes of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation. Performs all duties of a Registered Professional Nurse as necessary.Job Responsibility

Supervises, hires, educates, disciplines and evaluates the performance of nursing staff.

Develops long-term practice staffing schedules and ensures adequate daily coverage in accordance with established staffing needs.

Develops measures and monitors practice clinical operational performance metrics inclusive of agency and overtime costs.

Ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner; Interviews nursing candidates and orients new employees.

Educates staff in new and existing department procedures and systems (e.g. information systems, fiscal responsibility, etc.).

Identifies quality improvement issues and develops practice based quality improvement programs, as well as standards of care and practice.

Oversees the education and orientation of nursing staff and keeps abreast of current trends, quality issues and departmental affairs.

Maintains a current level of knowledge inclusive of Evidenced Based Practice relative to professional practice.

Conducts monthly meetings with the staff to address equipment, scheduling, goals and objectives, performance metrics and improvement activities, and any staff concerns.

Job Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.

Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.

4-6 years of relevant experience and 0-2 years of leadership / management experience, required.

Critical care and Cardiology experience highly preferred
