Major established and international company with a very good working culture has a newly created opportunity for a
Standards Engineer that will perform engineering work centered on developing, interpreting, and communicating national and international regulatory standards. Activities are primarily focused in the areas of radio frequency communication and energy storage. Some latitude exists for independent, un-reviewed action. Works under supervision for non-routine tasks. May have project management responsibility for small projects or subsets of larger projects. Travel is anticipated up to 20%, including the potential for international travel. This is a new group within the company and offers high visibility to have a significant impact. This position will be in the southern portion of upstate NY where the corporate location is based. Job Responsibilities / Requirements:- Provides knowledge and technical guidance to the organization in the interpretation and application of telematics and energy storage regulatory standards.
- Participates on corporate cross-functional product development teams reviewing regulatory standards.
- Creates, in conjunction with project specifications, test or certification plans to meet market access requirements for radio frequency devices or energy storage systems.
- Coordinates with externally recognized testing laboratories to evaluate or certify radio communication and energy storage components and sub-systems.
- Evaluates and troubleshoots electrical components or subsystems in accordance with established testing procedures.
- Participates as a contributing member on national and/or international committees responsible for developing and maintaining regulatory standards.
