Description The month end close accountant is responsible for managing, completing and ensuring the accuracy of the month end closing process. This position requires exceptional accounting skills, a deep understanding of financial regulations, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to condense and synthesize complex information into concise reports.Responsibilities:

Performing complex accounting activities such as account reconciliation, preparation and posting of journal entries.

Reviewing and analyzing financial data to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

Collaborating with other departments to gather information for the month end close process.

Preparing consolidated internal and external financial statements by analyzing information from the general ledger system and department heads.

Ensuring timely completion and accurate execution of all month-end close activities.

Assisting with internal and external audit requests in regard to month end close activities.

Researching accounting discrepancies and presenting solutions for approval.

Implementing accounting and finance best practices, and recommending process improvements to maximize efficiency and accuracy.

Assisting in budget preparation and forecasts, providing variance reports and explanations as needed.

Preparing and presenting various financial reports and analyses.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field is required.

CPA, CMA, or MBA a plus

Proven experience as an accountant

Excellent computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases

Ability to handle large amounts of data in Excel

Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, laws and regulations

Strong attention to detail and confidentiality

Excellent communication and organization skills
