Location: Cheektowaga, NY Category: Research Foundation Posted On: Wed Jul 24 2024 Job Description: Empire State University is currently seeking a Senior Education Specialist (Research Foundation Title: Senior Education Specialist). The Senior Education Specialist, a position employed through the Research Foundation (RF) for the state of New York, will report to the on-site Project Coordinator. Both the Senior Education Specialist and the Project Coordinator are overseen by the Principal Investigator of the project award at Empire State University. The position is a full-time appointment subject to renewed annual grant funding and includes full time benefits as applicable.The Senior Education Specialist will support the professional development of the Erie County Department of Social Services (DSS) workforce with the goal of improving upon specific skills and becoming successful in their position of employment. The Senior Education Specialist will work as part of a team, assisting as needed, in program development, design of training materials and curriculum, delivery of training programs, and evaluation. Training sessions are primarily delivered through face-to-face instruction utilizing a wide variety of training mediums (i.e. eLearning platforms, apps, videos, PowerPoint, web-based curriculum, etc.).This position responsibilities include both content/curriculum expertise and training duties.Content/curriculum expertise:

Knowledge/experience with child welfare workplace reform initiatives including those that specifically address disproportionate minority representation within the social services client population.

Solution-Focused Trauma-Informed curriculum.

Develop tailored curriculum (i.e. communication skills, supervision and leadership in human services settings, content for the annual Health and Wellness Conference, etc.).

Manage all logistics associated with marketing, registration, and evaluation of trainings.

Training duties:

Assess training requirements and needs of Erie County DSS workforce.

Coordinate training opportunities and schedule with state contracts.

Deliver online, face-to-face, and hybrid training sessions to Erie County DSS workforce.

Provide one-on-one tutoring and individualized technical assistance as needed based upon needs assessment.

Job Requirements:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Adult Education, or a related field.

Minimum 3 years' experience in delivering training to adult learners.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Excellent presentation and instructional skills in both group and one-to-one settings.

Proficient in utilizing web conferencing and Zoom/Teams for meetings and as an instructional tool.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.

Effectively interact and work with others from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Human Services, Adult Education, or a related field.

Expertise in adult learning and education.

Experience working in local Social Services districts and/or within Human Services agencies.

Special Information:

This position requires regular travel between Cheektowaga and downtown Buffalo offices.

Normal sitting, standing, and walking throughout the course of the day.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.

On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift articles up to 70 lbs.

Periods of extended computer usage that requires dexterity and computer skills.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
