Store Associate (Part Time)
We’re a multi-faceted ReUse and architectural salvage organization that preserves historic architectural items, diverts materials from landfills, creates local jobs, and provides affordable, hard-to-find materials to homeowners, artists, nonprofits, and professionals throughout the city and surrounding region. Our work directly supports a stronger, more sustainable, and more equitable community.
Store Associates contribute to daily operations of the store by working collaboratively with team members, supporting customer service efforts, handling materials, and maintaining store presentation. This role is essential for the smooth functioning of multiple internal tasks, including merchandising, donation screening, facilities maintenance, promotion, and publicity.
Job Duties
-Support store operations by answering phone calls, merchandising, material processing, and maintaining overall store appearance and organization.
-Gain foundational knowledge of material handling, refer to price guides and consult with managers and colleagues on pricing, as needed.
-Evaluate, triage, sort, assemble/disassemble, price, and stock incoming materials. Make intake decisions and communicate promptly, professionally, and courteously.
-Load and unload materials safely using basic handling equipment (e.g., two-wheel and four-wheel dollies, pallet jacks).
Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries via company phone, email, and in-person. Consult with management as needed.
-Utilize digital, paper-based, and in-person systems to support daily operations, and ensure accurate tracking, reporting, and documentation of store activities and transactions.
Requirements
-Self-motivated, organized, responsible, flexible retail professional.
-Ability to learn internal systems and processes, including but not limited to: processing and pricing donations, assembling products, merchandising and presentation.
-Ability to perform cash handling safely and securely.
-Ability to stand on your feet for eight or more hours.
-Ability to twist, bend, kneel, squat and reach throughout the workday.
-Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
-Regular, predictable attendance.
-Willingness and ability to grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.
-Available to work Saturdays and some holidays.
Preferred
-Professional certifications - safety and operational are a plus.
