Maintenance Technician - Refrigeration (UNION - 2nd or 3rd Shifts)

Position Overview:

As a crucial team member, your responsibilities involve repairing and maintaining ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, production equipment, HVAC systems, and related equipment, including glycol, chilled water, brine, and steam systems. Additionally, you'll contribute to facility and production support system maintenance. This role may require manually moving large equipment within the plant and participating in the in-plant HAZMAT team and PSM Team, with a willingness to obtain RETA, CARO, or CIRO certification. Training in Critical Control Points (CCPs) importance is offered, and you are expected to demonstrate knowledge of CCPs upon completion of the training.

Expectations:

Preferred CARO or CIRO Certification.

Preferred Stationary Engineers License.

PLC experience is advantageous.

Demonstrable experience with steam plant operations.

Completion of HAZMAT training.

Commitment to supporting the production of safe, high-quality products and ensuring team member safety.

Adherence to Safety, GMP, PSM, and RMP regulations.

Ability to pass a HAZMAT physical.

Preparation of requisitions for materials/parts for work orders.

Generation and closure of work orders, along with accurate tracking of time spent on tasks in the computerized Maintenance Management System.

Adherence to all company rules, policies, and procedures.

Membership and training maintenance in the company emergency response team, as outlined by OSHA, 29 CFR 1910.120 (HAZMAT).

Forklift certification or obtaining the qualification within the probationary period.

Possession of a valid New York State Driver’s License.

Availability to work a variable schedule occasionally to cover other team member time off.

Minimum Qualifications (to secure an interview for this position, all the following requirements must be met):

Capability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Proficiency in tasks involving pushing, pulling, climbing, squatting, and frequent bending throughout the shift.

Application of basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.

Proficiency in basic measurements using tape measures, levels, calipers, and micrometers.

Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Physical ability to wear a respirator and maintain a Hazmat certification.

Basic computer keyboarding skills and touchscreen technology proficiency.

Skillfulness with basic hand tools and power tools.

Comfort working at heights using ladders, platforms, or mechanical lifts with required OSHA fall protection.

Adaptability to extreme temperatures ranging from -30°F to 120°F.

Tolerance for variable work environments, both indoor and outdoor, with conditions varying based on location and season.

Fundamental mechanical skills for machine disassembly and reassembly.

Completion of an NYS-approved apprenticeship or a 2-year degree in HVAC & Refrigeration (military schooling accepted) or a verifiable trade school.

Minimum of 3 years of refrigeration experience with multiple gases.

Ability to draw basic circuits and capability of reading blueprints and schematics.

Proficiency in using electricians' tools and test equipment, including multi meters and meggers.

Familiarity with Basics of Fluid Control, such as pumps.

Skills in pipe fitting.

Proficiency with refrigeration equipment, including gauges and vacuum pumps.

Experience with electrical control circuits and 3-phase power up to 480 volts.

Experience with steam plant operations.

Capability to handle chemicals, paints, solvents, and exposure to environmental allergens.
