How do you excel in this position

The Lead Industrial Painter is a hands-on, highly technical role at the core of launching and sustaining our new blast and paint facility. This person will play a key role in commissioning new equipment, establishing operating procedures, and ensuring all coating work meets the highest standards of quality and durability.

You'll start by taking ownership of all surface preparation and industrial painting tasks-setting the bar for performance, safety, and attention to detail. Over time, this position will evolve into a formal leadership role, responsible for training, mentoring, and leading a team of painters as operations scale. Success in this position means combining deep coatings knowledge, shop-floor ownership, and leadership potential to build a high-performing, quality-driven paint department.

What are we looking for:

High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications in industrial painting or coatings preferred

Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in industrial painting, preferably in a fabrication or heavy manufacturing setting

Familiarity with surface preparation methods, spray systems, and blast equipment operations

Experience interpreting and applying specifications such as ISO 12944, SSPC/NACE/AMPP, or coating manufacturer guidelines

Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and technical coating instructions

Experience with startup or commissioning of new paint/blast equipment is a strong plus

Familiarity with quality practices, including DFT measurement, coating inspection, and documentation

AMPP/NACE coating certifications (e.g., C1-C3, Basic Coatings Inspector) are highly desirable

Strong communication skills and the ability to train, coach, and lead others over time

A sense of ownership for your work area, equipment, and process quality

Physically capable of lifting equipment/materials and working in a production environment

Knowledge of safety and environmental requirements in a paint/blast setting, including respiratory protection, confined space, and PPE.
