DescriptionPosition Summary:The Food Service Worker is responsible for assisting with preparation and service of breakfast, lunch, and dinner for children residing in the Residential Treatment programs. This position is Saturday and Sunday 8am-5:30pm. As the Food Service Worker you will:
Prepare breakfast, lunch and dinner entrees with minimum waste for large groups of people
Effectively follow and serve planned menus, ensuring all state requirements for nutrition are met
Have knowledge of appropriate food substitutions that meet all state requirements for nutrition
Maintain food inventory and rotate stock that includes refrigerated, frozen and dry goods storage and place appropriate orders with various vendors
Follow appropriate infection control procedures
Have knowledge of special dietary needs, i.e. serving entrees for diabetics
Effectively operate all kitchen equipment and machinery and maintain the equipment in a clean, sanitary manner
Knowledge of Food Safety Procedures, HACCP, and Food Service Sanitation
Participate with the “Quality Improvement” initiative
Provide guidance, mentoring and training to new employees
Assist with the preparation of meals that are required for special events, holiday functions or special outings
Maintain clean and sanitized kitchen at all times
Models and practices sensitivity, fair treatment and acceptance of diversity in all interpersonal interactions
Shows willingness to learn about and implement skills related to diversity
Ability to perform job functions in a self-directed manner, and work autonomously when necessary
All other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
Valid NYS Driver’s License (preferred)
Ability to move materials up to 25 lbs.
Demonstrates appropriate work attitudes and performance behaviors;
Experience cooking for large groups, preferred; and/or experience in a food service environment
Knowledge of Universal Precautions for Infection Control, HACCP, And Food Safety Standards and Procedures
