The Certified Chaplain assists patients, families and staff to understand more fully life's events as they relate to their spiritual and emotional well- being and healing. Certified Chaplains receive referrals, complete documentation including spiritual assessment as well as on-going ministry. Certified Chaplains respond to referrals, emergency calls, codes and provide crisis intervention in complex situations.Under the direction of an Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) Certified Educator, the associate will participate in the Certified Education Candidate (CEC) process toward ACPE Certified Educator certification. As appropriate, the CEC will help in the coordination, training and supervision of CPE students, including volunteers and Level I & II Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) students. The associate will divide time weekly between spiritual caregiving and CEC activities in collaboration with leadership, will make progress toward certification in accordance with stated ACPE milestones, and will successfully complete the certification process within a reasonable timeframe (outlined by the ACPE as a three (3) to five (5) year process). Completion of the certification process does not guarantee a position as a Certified Educator within the organization. Responsibilities:EDUCATION

Completed local center Certified Educator application required

Evaluation of the competencies for admission required

Master's level theological, pastoral ministry/pastoral care/religious studies or related degree required

Current certification by professional national certifying agency for chaplaincy required

Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education credits required

EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years of experience in health care ministry

Fifty (50) CEU annually required

Ordination or commissioning to function as a spiritual care provider by an appropriate religious/spiritual authority

Ecclesiastical endorsement or statement of good standing from an authority in one's faith tradition

Experience teaching in a pastoral, healthcare or academic setting

Demonstrated success using the action-reflection-action model of process education
