This summer, we will be welcoming thousands of guests to Niagara Falls and the greater Western New York area. 5 Star Niagara Falls Tours & Events is seeking passionate, fun, and highly energetic people to assist with walking tours & showcasing the wonder of Niagara Falls. Walking tours will run seasonally from April-November daily for approximately three hours per tour (multiple tours per day).
Job Responsibilities:
Lead walking tours of Niagara Falls State Park for large groups of visiting guests
Communicate and interact well to foster and nurture personal relationships with all guests and community partners alike
Provide accurate directions and local recommendations to guests
Learn, master and share scripted talking points consisting of local history, architecture and culture.
Troubleshoot customer concerns as needed, working closely with the state park staff to resolve any guests issues that arise.
Actively seek out information and interesting facts to share with tour attendees
Complete post-tour duties, such as providing a post-tour debrief to operations manager
Job Qualifications/Requirements:
Our ideal candidates will have a theater, PR, marketing or other presentation-based background. Previous experience in the tourism community is a plus but by no means required!
Must have a very high-energy level, you will play a critical role in the impression of the city to guests.
Ability to communicate and connect quickly with guests so that they feel they are part of something special.
Have a natural sense of humor, ability to improvise, and make people feel at ease immediately.
Enjoy working in a flexible environment with little to no direct supervision.
Strong knowledge of the city’s history, tourist attractions, and how to navigate the city.
Tour Guides must have an ability to memorize historical facts while also being able to adapt said script to the needs of each tour
Must be able to be on your feet and walking constantly for 3 - 4 hours straight in various weather elements (sunny, cold, drizzle)
Must have a cell phone to communicate and a watch to stay on time.
Compensation:
starting hourly wage is $20 an hour, plus any cash gratuities received are yours to keep. This is a gratuity based industry, it’s not uncommon to end a tour with $100+ in tips! You'll also be paid a stipend for training and tour practice time
