Assistant Controller

Description Join a growing investment, development, and management company specializing in outdoor storage solutions. Our client is hiring an Assistant Controller, reporting directly to the Controller, to oversee various accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance. This role requires proficiency in Yardi and Microsoft Suite and involves supervising accounting assistants, managing accrual schedules, and ensuring compliance with financial processes and procedures. Please email carly.suchoff@roberthalf with the subject line "Assistant Controller" Key Responsibilities: Oversee the accounts payable clerk, manage workflow approvals in P2P, and ensure timely posting of payables. Review and approve monthly accounts receivable charges in Yardi, following guidance from Asset Management (AM) and Property Management (PM). Maintain and manage schedules for accruals, distributions, and real estate tax liability payments. Post new leases and lease modifications in Yardi as instructed by AM and PM. Prepare acquisition-related adjusting journal entries (AJE) and submit them to the Controller and Director of Finance for approval. Supervise accounting assistants, providing guidance on processes and coding issues. Handle stop payments, reversals, and reclassifications. Maintain schedules for cross-collateralized debt service payments and allocate interest rate cap receipts to appropriate property groups. Review and manage RPIE, tax commission filings, and franchise tax filings prepared by accounting assistants. Provide analytical support to the Controller and Director of Finance. Collaborate with PM and AM to assist with necessary adjustments. Examine the general ledger (GL) and report any discrepancies during month-end close. Review and submit month-end construction draw packages provided by the Development team for approval by the Controller. Perform bank and credit card reconciliations. Oversee travel and software reimbursement schedules. Contribute to budgeting processes for management entities. Handle various ad hoc tasks as needed. Requirements Qualifications: Proficiency in Yardi Voyager/Elevate and Excel.
