The Bronx District Attorney is seeking an experienced attorney with excellent management and supervisory skills to serve as a Supervisor of the Rikers Island Prosecution Bureau (RIPB) within the Investigations Division. The Supervisor will support the Deputy and the Chief in overseeing a multi-faceted team consisting of Assistant District Attorneys, investigators, and professional staff members in the investigation and prosecution of criminal offenses committed on Rikers Island including violent crimes involving gangs, organized contraband rings, sexual assaults, felony assaults, attempted murders and wide-ranging conspiratorial conduct. The Bureau is focused on reducing violent crimes and combating sexual offenses occurring on Rikers Island. The Bureau works closely with the New York City Department of Correction and other law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute these crimes. Moreover, the Bureau collaborates with other bureaus including the Special Investigations Bureau, the Violent Criminal Enterprise Bureau, the Public Integrity Bureau, and the Crime Strategies Bureau to identify commonalities and patterns of gang activity, contraband trafficking, and violence. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Working with the Chief and Deputy Chief of RIPB to oversee, supervise, and direct all investigations and prosecutions conducted by the bureau. Maintain a limited caseload of Rikers cases and investigations in addition to training, coaching, and advising RIPB ADAs. Second-seat ADAs on grand jury presentations, hearings, and trials. Understand and respond clearly and effectively, orally and written, to complex legal issues. Work cooperatively with a large and diverse staff. Participate in trainings for office personnel and outside agencies. Manage and supervise RIPB staff, which may include responding to crime scenes inside of detention facilities. Available nights, weekends, and holidays and periodically at the satellite office on Rikers Island. Communicate across multiple organizational levels, both internally and externally. Conduct in-depth case reviews and conferences. Perform other duties as required to support the work of the Bureau and the Office at large. QUALIFICATIONS: Juris Doctorate degree required. 5+ years of experience, some experience in management preferred. US Citizenship and New York State Residency are required as of first day of employment. Significant experience conducting and overseeing long-term investigations into financial fraud and other organized criminal activity. Significant trial experience. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Strong business planning and forecasting skills. Strong legal writing skills. Excellent computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Excellent presentation and organizational skills. Ability to exercise good judgment and strong ethics. Excellent people skills. Ability to solve complex issues arising from investigations and case management problems from inception through conclusion both professionally and fairly.
