BEACON Program Director 11/7/24Full TimeBronxJob ID: 007357Description:Charles Drew Campus (3630 3rd Ave)65,000 - 70,000Position Summary:The Beacon Program Director will oversee the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the Beacon Program at our Charles Drew Campus. This leadership position requires an individual with strong management skills, a deep commitment to youth development, and the ability to foster partnerships with community stakeholders, schools, and other agencies. The Director will work closely with the Community School Director and Assistant Community School Director to ensure the program aligns with the goals and needs of both the school and the surrounding community, including partner schools. Essentail Duties:

Oversee all aspects of the CBO’s Beacon Program at the Community School.

Lead strategic efforts to maintain and expand critical community partnerships for Beacon Program.

Create structures and processes for effective communication between programs, particularly with DOE staff from host site and internal agency departments as well.

Work closely with the Community School Director and Assistant Community School Director to develop program based on goals and needs of Community School and surrounding community, as well as partner schools that feed into program.

Establish program goals and outcome measures to determine the success of each program component.

Meet all paperwork requirements of funders, including attendance and enrollment data, reports, and outcomes. Additionally, provide information and reports as needed for CBO’s internal processing and for principal & administration.

Model appropriate child, youth and adult development practices, and handle behavior concerns as needed.

Directly supervise the Assistant Beacon Director and Parent & Outreach Coordinator. Support recruitment, hiring, training, supervision and evaluation of all additional staff employed through the Beacon program.

Facilitate all meetings required of the Beacon program, including weekly staff meetings and quarterly Advisory Board meetings.

Manage all related programmatic budgets, and work closely with the Office Manager and Budget Director to provide budget updates and reports as needed internally and for funder; support Office Manager in building systems for to track and maintain budget expenses and reports.

Maintain and provide oversight of contractual partnerships with private, state and city agencies.

Obtain continual feedback from constituents to establish new programs and services.

Establish and maintain strategic partnerships between Beacon program and relevant community groups, school administrators, public officials, funders, parents and other critical stakeholders and represent organization to community boards, other institutions, agencies, and organizations.

Perform other duties as needed under the direction of the Community School Director.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School/ GED required

Minimum 5 years of full time experience working with youth in a fast-paced, high-stress environment, 2 years working at a managerial level; prior experience with DYCD or Beacon highly preferred.

Key Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree in education, child psychology, or related field preferred.

Demonstrated experience in strategic program planning and development.

Commitment to working with underserved youth, particularly middle-school-aged youth.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and computer literacy, particularly experience working with data to drive program goals and implementation.

Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred.

Enthusiasm, creativity and initiative, a sense of humor and a sense of urgency.
