The position is a unique opportunity to work with emotionally disturbed children in a therapeutic, educational setting that integrates mental health treatment into the school day.RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare materials for lessons.

Create and maintain arts department inventory systems.

Support in student behavior.

Lead teach when a team member is absent.

Research arts content

Create and/or research resources to support students who need guidance.

Assist teacher in preparing progress reports and report cards.

Assist teacher in lesson planning.

Make meaningful connections through the Arts in all content areas.

Differentiate instruction for students with special needs.

Build a warm and inclusive classroom environment, implementing the practices of Responsive Classroom.

Create and maintain strong relationships with students and families.

Actively participate in team meetings, collaborative planning, and professional development.

Familiar with the National Core Arts Standards.

RequirementsRequirements: for Art Assistant

Desire to teach art to K-12 students

Associate degree or equivalent experience in education, the Arts, social work or related field required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Strong technical skills and subject matter expertise

Art, arts and crafts knowledge and experience.

Experience with children with developmental disabilities

A positive, organized, and professional attitude.

The ability to create a classroom environment where students feel safe, supported, and challenged.

Relentless drive to set and achieve ambitious goals.

Strong collaboration and teamwork skills.

Growth mindset and ability to use feedback to improve practice.

Monday - Friday 8:30 am to 3:30 pmJob Type: Full-timePay: $16.00 - $18.75 per hourBenefits:
