Job Description:

Full Stack Developer

[This position requires being based in the state of NY/NJ/PA for significant on-site work in Endicott, NY.]

The Company:

Core America (www.coreamerica.com) is the world’s leader in providing consulting expertise and software to facility management and cleaning organizations. Based in Vestal, NY and founded in 1995, we serve America’s leading institutions, universities, and fortune 500 companies.

Our purpose is to lead and inspire others to shape their cleaning programs, so that every person can enjoy clean, healthy, and safe facilities.

Smart Inspect™ (www.mysmartinspect.com) is our primary software product, used for collecting inspection data, via mobile apps on iOS and Android, reporting inspection results and summaries, managing work orders and more.

Data collection and analytics are key components to our Smart Inspect team and customers, having collected tens of millions of onsite inspection records over many years. This data allows Smart Inspect to provide valuable insight to its customers across the world. This data-driven approach directly impacts the quality of customer outcomes.

Job Culture and Benefits:

We work hard to foster and grow a family-like atmosphere and team, offering a highly competitive wage and benefit package. This offering includes healthcare insurance, 401K, generous vacation time, paid parental leave, several wellness incentive programs – including gym membership reimbursement and bike-to-work awards — and free snacks!

Working for a small business can be demanding at times, but Core is committed to a healthy work-life balance. In addition to a flexible work schedule, we frequently offer team lunches, attend sporting events together, and host fun office contests. We pride ourselves on our professional, fun, and life-giving culture.

The Position:

We are looking for an experienced (mid-level to senior) Developer to join our small technology team. Smart Inspect is built with the latest software technologies and practices, and you will have the opportunity to work on everything: mobile apps, web front-end, API services, and database. All our current software stacks are written with JavaScript, though future needs could lead to using other software languages. We’ve made great strides in AI/ML and are using some Python in that area.

Position will report to Head of Technology and be involved with all aspects of software development. We follow the Agile scrum development process and continually improve on each sprint. This is full-time salaried position with health, retirement and other benefits, working in a hybrid environment (both remote and at our offices in Vestal, NY).

What you’ll do

Within your first week, you will:

Onboard and become part of our company’s vision and software development process.

Run our software in your development environment. We develop on Macs, and you’ll have a space to try and test our codebases.

Complete your first Pull Request. We move fast!

Within your first month, you will:

Participate in team meetings and software discussions. You’ll understand the “why” of our software and see how your work fits into the big picture.

Do your share of Story points each Sprint, across multiple code bases, adhering to our development process.

Be proud of your own software feature live in production.

Within your first 3-6 months, you will:

Design and drive a full feature set yourself, incorporating business feedback on multiple iterations.

Guide other developers in the work you do, explaining and documenting to make us all better.

Fully understand all of our code bases, confident of company success and potentially become lead developer of a brand new customer product.

What you bring

Experience with building state-of-the-art SaaS and Mobile software. You personally put something into production, utilized in the real-world by many users.

Lots of experience with JavaScript. (We use it everywhere!)

Experience with relational databases (SQL) and an understanding of NoSQL databases.

Experience with Git or similar source control, Code Reviews, and a software development process (like Agile)

Experience with deployment to AWS.

Passion for software. You love the craft of software development and strive to be a world-class engineer. You welcome new challenges and take the initiative to improve your skills and the team.

Our Values:

Expertise - We believe that our passion, deep experience, and technology will deliver the best results.
