Location: Binghamton, NY Category: Professional Posted On: Thu Sep 5 2024 Job Description: Budget Title: Instructional Support Associate (SL-2)Salary: $41,328 - $50,000 (full-time, 10-month, college-year)The Department of Art and Design offers a major leading to a B.F.A. or B.A. degree, in six areas of concentration: Drawing, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Printmaking, and Graphic Design, as well as a minor. It also provides experiences for liberal arts students who wish to explore studio practices through elective courses.The Department of Art and Design at Binghamton University seeks highly qualified applicants for the position of Instructional Support Associate. The primary responsibility of this position is to provide technical support and safety oversight for a 7,000 square foot sculpture facility and wood shop. This position collaborates with faculty and students to ensure that instructional and research needs are met, including providing technical consultation, demonstrations, and support.The Studio Associate will perform routine maintenance and repairs of equipment and ensure the functionality, organization, and cleanliness of the facility. Duties also include maintaining compliance with SDS, safety, and hazmat requirements. Other responsibilities involve purchasing materials and supplies for classes and scheduling and receiving deliveries. In addition, this position works closely with other staff to support a variety of activities across the department, including maintaining budgets and inventories, contributing to capital improvements within departmental studios, and assisting with special events. This is a non-teaching position.Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree

Broadly skilled in a variety of technical and material processes with expertise in carpentry with significant safety experience

Demonstrate a high level of craftsmanship and knowledge in fulfilling the needs of the position

Computer competency

Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills in assisting students and the ability to work with and relate to a diversity of constituents

Minimum technical qualification for the position is in-depth training and work experience in technically related fields

The ability to lift 25 to 50 lbs.

Preferred:

Bachelor of Fine Arts

Training and work experience in welding

Comprehensive understanding of sculpture processes
