Position Summary: The ED EST is responsible for providing and supporting patient care and an exceptional patient experience in the ED. The ED EST is also responsible for supporting efficient throughput of both discharged and admitted ED patients. Education, License & Cert: High school graduate/GED or equivalentBLS requiredEMT/EMT-P preferredEKG certification preferredPhlebotomy certification preferredExperience: Previous customer/patient relations experience preferredMinimum 2 years of experience as a Patient Care Technician/CNA preferredEssential Functions: Stocks and organizes ED supplies and equipment including dietary suppliesTransports patients into and out of the ED including assisting patients from private vehicles, moving patients via wheelchair, stretcher, or hospital bedMeasures and documents vital signs accurately and timelyPresent in the ED waiting area providing support and information to patients and families awaiting care or test resultsKeeps Nurse First or Charge Nurse aware of patient or family changes or increased anxieties. Alerts RN to any patients expressing the desire or demonstrating behaviors concerning for leaving without being seen.May perform phlebotomy as ordered by the provider or per Nursing Protocol ordersPerforms circulating role during trauma activationsPerforms POCT (and daily QI) and documents results; follows procedure for reporting critical resultsPerforms EKGs as ordered by the provider or per Nursing protocol ordersResponds to call bellsAssists patients as needed (e.g., ambulation, bed pans, comfort measures)Performs hourly rounding in conjunction with the ED RN; documents same in the EHRPerforms 1:1 suicide watch as requestedPerforms the sitter role as requestedIdentifies needed repairs to equipment or department and submits work orders for sameMaintains pre-hospital equipment in an organized clean manner and communicates with pre-hospital providersParticipates in ED staff meetings and ED Shared GovernanceOther Duties: Performs clerical tasks and duties as assignedOther duties to support departmental operations as assignedPay rate ranges from $17.00 - $25.16 per hour.
