Location: Binghamton, NY Category: Professional Posted On: Wed Sep 18 2024 Job Description: Budget Title: Instructional Support Assistant (SL-1)Salary: a biweekly rate of $1661.77 (full-time, temporary)The Circulation Assistant is responsible for a range of duties including assisting with the opening/closing and coverage of service points as assigned; Functional oversight of a team of student employees who staff a service point; Circulation materials, processing items, and assisting with routine workflows as directed.The Circulation Assistant reports to the Senior Associate Head of Patron Services with the Senior Director of Public Services and the Office of IDEA as the second line supervisor.The primary hours for this position are Tuesday-Saturday, 12:00pm-8:00pm with a biweekly Rate of $1661.77. This position is expected to last through December 31, 2024.Duties and Responsibilities:

Participates in a work culture that promotes diversity and anti-racism and actively works to eliminate or mitigate the effects of systemic racism and bias.

Opens, closes, and provides service coverage as directed; small projects as assigned. Understands and follows all safety and security procedures, including communicating with University Police and maintaining familiarity with emergency procedures.

Serves as patrons' first impression of the Libraries, while providing excellent service through critical thinking and listening skills. Resolves problems related to patron issues; circulation of library materials and equipment, scanning; data entry; and pulling materials from the stacks.

Maintains open and timely communication regarding staffing or patron related issues with the Library staff;

Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills by maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues and students in the Libraries and throughout the University.

Job Requirements:

Associates degree

Customer service experience

Ability to work a flexible schedule

Preferred:

Experience working in a library

Familiarity with productivity tools like Google, Microsoft Office, etc.

Scheduling or Team Lead experience
