Are you someone that has the perfect mix of creativeness, ingenuity and have the ability to take a detailed image of an item and work with various materials (wood, fabrics, stone, etc.) to create that item (for example a chair, wall ornament, table, etc.)? Then we have an exciting job for you.

About Us:

Our client runs a studio that is used by various production companies to shoot their videos and photos. Many of these production companies need a specific look for their studio shoots. For example, they may need the studio interior (which is a small sized room) to look like the inside of a spa or they may want it to look like a therapists office. To tell us what look they want for the studio, they provide us with very detailed pictures of what the room should look like. The images attached to this post are examples of what they want the studio to look like.

Your task is to take the interior design pictures and then help us put together the room so that it looks as close as possible to the provided design.

Note that our facility is location in Vestal (close to U Club).

Your Job:

As part of this job, you will be required to perform the following functions:

- When you are handed a set design image, you should first familiarize yourself with the overall theme of the room that is to be designed. You should familiarize yourself with the different specific elements of the room that need to be purchased or made by us (for example, couches, chairs, tables, light stands, shelf ornaments, lighting, etc).

- Then, for elements that you think we might be able to find close-enough items for online, you will perform a search online to source those items. If you do finds items that fit the look, you will simply forward the order links for those items to our purchasing department which will buy those items.

- For elements that you believe will need to be made/produced by us, you will identify what processes and materials will be needed to make those items on site. For example, you may decide that to achieve the look of the wall in the set design image will need dry wall and stucco material. You will then request these materials from the purchasing department which will order these items if we don't already have them on hand.

- Once you have all the items and materials on hand, you will then begin the process of putting the set design together. Note that if you are familiar with how a specific item is to be made or how a specific look is achieved, you may need to research on how to properly do those things.

Your qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this job will have basic knowledge of carpentry, fabric work, setting up lighting, dry walling, painting and tiling. Most importantly, you should have a deep passion for arts and crafts and should have done both small and medium sized projects whether in a work setting or in your personal life.

The ideal candidate will also be someone that fills gaps in their knowledge by quickly learning techniques and processes for things that you may not be familiar with but need to know to accomplish the task.

Compensation: $23/hour

Currently we have the availability for both full-time and part-time employees.

We are also flexible to work with someone that wants to work on a per project basis.

How to apply:

Please message us with the following:

- A brief on you including what skills/interests you have and that you think are well suited for this job. Please tell us about past projects (personal or work-related) that you may have undertaken that involved applying multiple skills to bring the project design together.

- Also, to help us get a feel for how you might approach a set design production, please pick one of the set design images accompanying this job post and give us your opinions on what do you think putting that set design together would involve, what items/materials would you source from online and which items/materials would you produce yourself. Be as brief or as detailed as you need to be to give us an idea of how you would execute such a project if it was given to you.
