No County Livingston Street Address 6274 East Avon-Lima Road City Avon State NY Zip Code 14414 Duties Description - Maintain and repair vehicles and heavy construction equipment- Perform NYS DMV inspection of motor vehicles.- Complete work orders to account for work performed.- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunction.- Perform related field work, as required, to support the mission of the DEC.- Overhaul, adjust and repair gasoline and diesel engines.- Change and balance tires. Overhaul, adjust and repair brake systems.- Diagnose and repair electronic fuel injection systems.- Troubleshoot, repair and/or replace electrical wiring systems.- Operate dump trucks with trailers for equipment transportation to and from job sites and to diagnose mechanical issues. Minimum Qualifications Service and Repair Mechanic (Motor Equipment)Four years of experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic responsible for the diagnosis of faulty vehicle and/or equipment operation and the performance of mechanical repairs covering several aspects of automotive and/or diesel systems OR an associate's degree in automotive or diesel repair technology.Substitution: Education as detailed below may be substituted for a maximum of two years of experience.Graduation from a technical or vocational program, such as B.O.C.E.S, in automotive ordiesel technology or automotive or diesel repair technology may be substituted for oneyear of experience.Graduation from a one-year post high school certificate program in automotive or dieselrepair technology may be substituted for up to two years of experience.Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no air brake restriction. Additional Comments Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain.Must be able to work in remote areas.Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.
