Located in New York’s Capital District, Boght and Oakwood Veterinary Clinics have been providing quality care for patients for over 40 years. Our veterinary clinics are fast paced, high volume practices that provide compassionate patient care to small animals including pocket pets and exotics. Performing medical and surgical services including eastern medicine and acupuncture. Boght and Oakwood Veterinary Clinics are family-owned practices, located in Latham and Troy New York. Owner, David A. Wagoner DVM started working at Boght when he was in high school. Dr. Wagoner bought the practice in 1995 and became sole owner in 2011 then opening the second location Oakwood. Dr. Wagoner’s main focus is exceptional patient and client care at a reasonable price. It is important to note that Boght and Oakwood boast veteran veterinarians and staff who will greatly assist in the acquisition of a new technician. Our practices are fully equipped for diagnostics, with in-house laboratory testing, endoscopy, ultrasound services and digital radiology. Technicians can expect to see a diverse case load, and have the dedicated support of part-time and full-time experienced veterinarians and staff. We are in search of either a part time or full time Licensed Veterinary Technician. A self-motivated individual that possesses skills such as friendliness, empathy, patience and of course a love for animals. Technicians are an integral part of the team at the BOVC. They play a significant role in communicating with and educating clients about their pets. Providing patient care and technical services, they are the veterinarians’ primary medical support. Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following… Basic Nursing Care Good animal handling skills, being able to maintain patience & self-control while handling all animals Provide compassions care to patients and clients Client education including patient admittance tasks & patient care instructions’ Administration of IV, IM, SQ, topical & oral medications Perform venipunctures Aseptically perform IV catheter placement Monitor, adjust & maintain IV infusion pumps Perform exam room responsibilities consisting of patient preliminary work ups, TPR’s, obtain & record patient histories, etc. Perform surgical tasks such as maintaining equipment, surgical drug calculations, inducing, intubating, prepping, monitoring, recovery & patient discharges Perform all in-house lab work & properly prepare samples for outside laboratories Can properly perform radiographs Restock and fill prescribed medications Assist in ultrasounds and endoscopies Perform physical and therapeutic procedures such as therapeutic laser Properly collect urine and fecal samples Perform dental prophylaxis procedures Provide therapeutic grooming & bathing Cleaning and stocking of appropriate areas Maintain overall cleanliness of the facility Maintain all areas in a manner that is free of odor & fire hazards Be aware of appropriate use of personal safety devices Practice good customer service skills Know and use proper medical terminology Can stay calm and efficient during medical crisis Is able to work well as part of a team and works well with all levels of hospital team members Job Specifications: Education – graduate of an AAS Veterinary Technology Program Licensure – professional NYS license Experience – previous on-the-job experience desirable but not required Skills – basic computer skills helpful Physical Effort – work requires lifting and carrying up to 40lbs. walk or stand for extended periods of time; frequently works in a bent positionPlease apply online with Boght and Oakwood Veterinary Clinics at: https://boght-oakwood-veterinaryclinics.oasisrecruit.com/job/281171/licensed-veterinary-technician-full-part-availability?s=cl
