Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office is hiring Correctional Officer Recruits to fill immediate vacancies.
Provisional employees receive full benefits! All provisional employees meeting the minimum hiring standards and training should expect to be retained as permanent employees!
A provisional appointment is when the agency intends to convert a qualified employee from temporary to permanent appointment.
We are looking for qualified Correctional Officer recruits for the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office. The ideal recruit should have the following qualities:
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
At least 18 years old
Candidates 35+ years old able to meet the physical requirements are encouraged to apply
Valid NYS Driver’s License
High School Diploma or GED
ADDITIONAL POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES OF CANDIDATES
Honest/ Ethical
Physically Fit (must pass physical agility, psychological and drug tests)
Positive Work History/ With References
No Criminal Record/ or Illicit Drug Use
Positive Credit History
Willing to Learn, Adapt
Willing to Work, Evenings, Nights, Weekends and Overtime
Previous Military/ Law Enforcement Experience preferred/ not required
