This Office is primarily responsible for code enforcement, life safety, fire safety and health in all public K-12 schools and BOCES in the State, exclusive of New York City. Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Review of Final Cost Reports submitted by public school districts and BOCES to determine adherence to applicable Education Law, guidelines and office policies. Provide technical assistance to school officials and their fiscal advisors, and conduct workshops to promote accurate Final Cost Report filings. Coordinate with other office staff as necessary to resolve fiscal issues. Respond to questions from the Office of State Aid on reporting issues involving Final Cost Reports. Perform Program Office reviews of Smart Bond submissions including Letters of Intent (LOI) and Smart School Investment Plans. Review and process Early Aid Start Requests. Assist with review of NYC final cost reports for eligibility for building aid. Work with the Associate Accountant on special projects as assigned. Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: NY HELPS This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination.
