Description We are offering an opportunity for a meticulous Paralegal to join our client's team in Albany, New York. This role involves handling a variety of consumer financial services complaints, responding to inquiries, and processing new consumer complaints in a legal setting. This is a 2-year, CONTRACT employment opportunity.Responsibilities: Handle a variety of consumer financial services complaints in a timely and effective manner. Review the financial institution’s response to the complaint and write a brief synopsis of the dispute. Communicate with consumers regarding their complaints or general issues they may have with a financial services company. Inform consumers of complaint filing procedures and refer them to another government agency when necessary. Process and code incoming new consumer complaints and send out the proper initial letters. Identify cases requiring prioritization and refer them to a supervisor for assignment. Research new financial services respondents not already in our system, including the entity’s license status, applicable government regulator, and contact information. Work collaboratively as a team in support of handling and resolving consumer financial services complaints. Perform ad hoc financial research and verification tasks as required. Use Microsoft Teams for communication and collaboration with team members.Requirements Experience in a paralegal role or similar legal support position Proficiency in Microsoft Teams for collaboration and communication Ability to perform ad hoc financial tasks and understand financial services Experience with pricing and filing systems Knowledge of procedures and policies in a legal context Familiarity with dispute resolution and handling complaints Proficiency in research and entity formation tasks Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively Experience dealing with phone inquiries and providing workstation support Familiarity with the DFS (Department of Financial Services) regulations Willingness to work overtime when necessary Ability to manage and resolve consumer complaints Proficiency in R Code will be considered an advantage Verification skills and attention to detail Experience in training others will be considered an asset Familiarity with fingerprinting procedures is a plus.
