Cleaners must be physically able to perform the tasks of the position and understand and carry out written and oral instructions. Duties Description 1. Performs a variety of cleaning tasks in assigned areas such as dusting, moping, sanitizing, and vacuuming.2. Cleans all areas of rest rooms such as sinks, stalls, urinals, toilets, etc.3. Stocks various dispensers.4. Collects and empties trash and recycling in accordance with cleaning schedules; cleans and/or removes hazardous or misplaced items, waste, and spills; and disposes, transports, or places such in appropriate receptacles and locations, following proper cleaning procedures. 5. Assembles cleaning carts according to assigned tasks; and prepares, mixes, and dilutes cleaning solutions following manufacturer directions. 6. Washes floors, corridors, stairwells, walls, partitions, and windows using mops, detergents, brushes, and other cleaning devices. 7. Vacuums, strips and waxes floors, and shampoos carpets, using manual or mechanical equipment. 8. Scrubs and cleans showers and restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and drains, using hand-operated equipment and cleaning agents. 9. Dusts or washes light fixtures and high places, such as ceilings, using ladders, other appropriate equipment, and tools. 10. Polishes wood and metal surfaces, fixtures, furniture, and equipment. 11. Picks up and removes litter, trash, etc., which may be on floors, in common areas, and places them in appropriate receptacles. 12. Monitors cleaning supplies and equipment; and notifies supervisor of supply levels, equipment malfunction, and/or maintenance issues observed during cleaning. 13. Cleans building fixtures and decorative items. 14. May be required to follow specialized disinfectant, waste disposal, and cleanliness standards in performing cleaning tasks.15. Remove snow and salt walkways; clean sidewalks, drives, and grounds; mow lawns using mechanical and manual equipment. This is a NYS Thruway Authority Unit 1 Teamsters position: Health Insurance and Prescription Drug Coverage.Dental and Vision Coverage.13 Paid Holidays, 4 of which are floating holidays, which are credited in July each year for use from July 1st through June 30th. Vacation, Sick and Personal Accruals. Sick Leave is credited at the rate of one-half day each biweekly pay period up to a total of 165 days.Sick Leave Incentive Plan – Employees who have not accumulated 165 sick days and have not used sick leave during the periods of January 1st to June 30th or July 1st to December 31st, each year, may receive two days of pay for each six-month period. Employees who have a sick leave balance of 165 days, and continuously maintain that balance for each six-month period, may receive four days of pay for each six-month period.Employees with 20+ years of continuous Authority/State service may receive up to an additional five days of vacation leave accruals annually.Membership in the New York State and Local Retirement System, as well as optional enrollment in the NYS Deferred Compensation Plan. Service Award Payments - Upon completion of 10 years of Authority service, eligible employees will receive a 10-year Service Award Payment. Payments are then awarded every five years as noted in the contract until 30 years of Authority service is reached. Service Awards have a positive impact on retirement.
