Duties Description The incumbent will support the Audit & Compliance Unit within Recovery Finance. Duties include, but may not be limited to: Serve as staff auditor on an audit team under the supervision of an auditor-in-charge and perform pre-audit surveys. Examine source documents used by auditees to obtain documentation needed to accomplish audit objectives. Prepare written audit findings and reports, and recommend corrective action. Assist in the review of requisite financial documentation submitted by Disaster Recovery Program staff and applicants. Assist in the annual Single State Audit, including attendance of entrance and exit conferences with third party audit representatives and compilation of requested records and/or documentation. Assist in establishing the scope of audit by analyzing and determining areas for audit, and the timeframe to be examined. Assist in planning audit activities, including specific audit tasks and the audit schedule. Conduct audits by performing various tests, reviews, reconciliations, and evaluations of records to ensure that transactions are processed appropriately. Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of Recovery’s internal controls, noting any relative strengths or weaknesses. Utilize generally accepted accounting and auditing principles and standards when conducting audits. Participate in development of Recovery audit manuals or training programs. Perform ad-hoc personal allowance reviews, as necessary. Performs other duties as required. Travel 10%, including during evening and weekends; depending on mission and assignment. Possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted New York State motor vehicle operator’s license.Work schedule may vary based on operational need.
