MH Professional Engineering is seeking a dynamic, hard-working Junior HVAC Designer/Commissioning Professional to help design systems for commercial, healthcare, educational and industrial projects. This person’s time will be split evenly between both mechanical design duties as well as aiding our firm’s growing building commissioning department.
JOB DUTIES
HVAC Designer:
Modify drawings to incorporate design and technical changes;
Provide project design support;
Assist with preparation of design and contract documents;
Participate in coordination of mechanical, engineering and plumbing drawings;
Assist with site verifications and/or field surveys
Commissioning Associate:
Technically assist execution of building commissioning projects;
Review HVAC, controls and electrical plans and specifications;
Participate in commissioning meetings and presentations;
Perform submittals reviews and assist with preparation of commissioning test forms and equipment checklists;
Independently or with senior engineer, perform field inspections, equipment startups, test and balance activities, and functional performance tests;
Prepare commissioning reports and maintain commissioning issues lists;
Assist with technical report writing and editing
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Minimum of 2 years experience in engineering, construction, commissioning of new construction projects or re-commissioning of existing buildings
Strong communication skills, including analytical technical writing, team building, collaboration and problem solving
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software: Excel, Word, Power Point
Strong knowledge of AutoCAD. Revit experience is a plus.
Must be able to obtain federal security clearance.
The work environment will consist of an office environment as well as frequent field visits in and around various client facility sites. You must be able to climb ladders, access roofs, and access narrow mechanical rooms. In addition, you must be capable of stooping and bending, reaching, squatting, and standing for extended periods. You must be capable of maneuvering over rough terrain as well as be capable of lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
