TVN is hiring for next school year! We are bringing back our fourth classroom and we could not be happier. We are looking for 3 assistant teachers.
TVN is a special place, as you all know. It is its own little community within the town of Bethlehem, and we are seeking three very special people to fill these vacancies. For many of our families we are their “village,” where the parents and their children make lifelong friends. We are looking for nurturing, patient, caring individuals who are ready to make a difference in the lives of preschool aged children. Wouldn’t you love to join our team?
We are also looking to hire 3 assistant teachers:
1) one for our younger five day class - which is our youngest class of 2 and 3 year olds in their first year of preschool (classroom hours 9:30am-12:30pm), who would work 20 hours per week when school is in session, and
2) two for our 4 day classes - which consists of students in their first or second year of preschool. For some students it will be their first preschool experience (classroom hours 9:20am-12:20pm), who would work 16 hours per week when school is in session.
All of these positions will begin in early September and closely follow the school calendar for BCSD.

Assistant Teacher Job Description
Associate’s degree preferred
Overview: The assistant teacher supports the nursery school in creating a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. As directed, the assistant teacher will assist the head teacher in the practical organization of activities and group work and will help ensure the safety and well being of each child. The assistant teacher will report directly to the classroom head teacher.
Responsibilities:
Supervision
Along with the head teacher, responsible for the safety and welfare of the children - inside and outside of the school building; during safety drills and in emergency situations
Education
Work with the head teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment in the classroom
Assist with day-to-day classroom set up, preparations, and program implementation
Complete 3 hours of professional development annually (2 of those hours are provided by TVN at the annual Professional Development Day)
Operation
Assist the head teacher with setting up the classroom for the start of school in September
Help prepare bulletin boards, cubbies, etc.
Inspect equipment for cleanliness and safety
Assist the head teacher with classroom management. Address discipline issues according to the TVN Behavior Policy
Communicate effectively with parents concerning students (via Bloomz, email or phone)
Attend monthly staff meetings
Attend “Meet the Teacher” Days, Parent Orientation Night, Parent Teacher Conferences, Open House, and Staff Development Day
Assist parent helper volunteers in the classroom
Assist head teacher with daily set up and clean up of the classroom
Assist with the class Moving Up ceremony in June
Maintain updated CPR training
Adhere to TVN budget when using supplies
Help conduct end-of-year cleaning, inventory, and disposal of damaged equipment
