Hello,
I’m Kristi, and I own a small independent jewelry company called Salt Grass. My business is a one-woman operation with additional helpers here and there. I am looking for another experienced bench jeweler who can support with a variety of roles within the business. If you aspire to deepen your knowledge as a jeweler or artisan, prefer a part time work schedule in a relaxed setting, and have an interest in entrepreneurship, then this is perfect job for you.
My ideal candidate :
- Has 2 years + professional bench jewelry skills
- Has worked with a micro mini torch or can pick it up quickly
- Available to work 1- 2 days a week in the studio and occasionally available for weekend pop ups and markets starting in the Spring
- Has a keen eye for detail and a desire to learn and grow as a maker
- is computer savvy and can help manage the backend of my website (I use Shopify which is very user friendly)
Your weekly responsibilities will vary but may look something like this:
- production start to finish - casting clean up, soldering components, tumble, polish, finish
- training your eye for quality control
- helping out with organizing and cleaning of the studio
- ordering supplies and castings
- helping out with markets and pop ups
- website admin
A little more about myself and the brand :
I’ve worked as a professional jeweler for over 10 years and have had my business for 7. I have a BFA in Sculpture from the Academy of Art in San Francisco, but I’m originally from Santa Fe. After school, I worked for various well-known independent jewelry brands in NYC. My best asset as a maker is my eye for design and detail. And I’m an Aquarius sun, sag rising, and sag moon which gives me a strong work ethic, creative as hell, and slightly disorganized ¯\(ツ)/¯. Qualified candidates will be invited to a meet & greet and a 30 minute bench test. Your time will be compensated for the test.
The position is roughly 5-10 hours a week starting at $20 hour but willing to negotiate based off your experience.
