Job Summary:

The job is multi-faceted, with the primary duties of the assistant supervisor and some responsibilities as the working foreman as needed. The principal job is to assist the project supervisor in overseeing, scheduling, and coordinating the work of employees and subcontractors in relevant construction roles. Secondary duties are reading plans and performing carpentry duties, such as framing, sheathing, and trim carpentry, with skillsets in other construction trades.

Primary Job – Assistant Supervisor Responsibilities:

Assist job supervisor in assigning, scheduling, and supervising the work of construction staff, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure work is completed on schedule and budget.

Assists supervisor in ensuring each assigned construction worker follows all safety standards.

Resolve problems and coordinate activities for the job through collaboration and communication with job supervisors and subcontractors.

Identify and recommend solutions for production problems, as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Ability to read blueprints and other reports outlining specifications.

Proficient in Microsoft Office with specific proficiency in Excel & Word. Familiarity with Microsoft Project and Blue Beam.

Thorough understanding of construction trades and capable of performing rough and trim carpentry and multiple construction trades at a skilled level.

Skilled in operating and maintaining stationary shop tools and equipment.

Thorough understanding of materials, methods, and tools used in construction practices.

Organizational and problem-solving skills.

Ability to analyze situations and identify ways to improve efficiency while maintaining a safe work environment.

Excellent interpersonal and management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Secondary Job - Working Foreman Responsibilities:

Read plans, blueprints, and drawings to plan and construct projects accurately.

Prepare for construction activities—determine the materials and tools needed for projects and retrieve the precise materials from supply companies based on accurate measurements.

Have the tools and ability to perform various construction activities such as framing, trim carpentry, stucco and drywall patching, installation of interior doors, door and bath hardware, etc.

Assist in overseeing the project/work site, ensuring safety standards are followed and quality work is being performed on time.

Assist in confirming availability and use of proper materials and tools; recognize and promptly address issues to continue on schedule.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent required; 2+ years college preferred.

At least 3 years of related construction industry experience required.

Proficient with industry hand and power tools required to perform various assigned tasks.

Understand basic safety OSHA requirements and use of tools in a safe manner, including wearing proper protective equipment.

Must have personal tools required to perform various assigned construction tasks.

Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.

Spanish speaking a plus.

Ability to utilize a smartphone to email and text.

Physical Requirements:

Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.

Prolonged periods of standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling.

Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time.

Must be able to work with sharp tools or power equipment safely.

Must be able to work in various weather conditions and terrains.

Job Benefits:

Full-time (Position based in Santa Fe, NM), Pay scale, starting at $65,000, commensurate with experience and competitive with the marketplace
