Job Title: Acquisitions and Logistics Manager

Location: Blue Rain Gallery – Santa Fe, NM

Job Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Gallery Owner

Position Overview:

Blue Rain Gallery seeks a detail-oriented and proactive Acquisitions and Logistics Manager to oversee the physical handling of artwork and manage the acquisition of art collections from the secondary market. This dual-role position is ideal for someone with strong logistical skills, a deep appreciation for fine art, and experience in art handling and art market transactions.

Key Responsibilities

Art Handling & Logistics:

Oversee all aspects of artwork handling, including unpacking, installation, deinstallation, packing, and crating for exhibitions and events.

Coordinate and execute safe and efficient transport of artwork, including local deliveries and shipping to collectors, institutions, and fairs.

Manage inventory storage and ensure proper documentation, condition reporting, and artwork safety.

Collaborate with curators and gallery staff to install exhibitions to professional standards.

Liaise with shipping vendors and negotiate contracts to ensure secure and cost-effective transport.

Acquisitions & Secondary Market Sales:

Cultivate and maintain relationships with private collectors, estates, and art advisors for the purpose of consigning artworks to the gallery.

Evaluate and research artwork for authenticity, provenance, and market value.

Facilitate consignment agreements and ensure timely communication and documentation with consignors.

Track and report on acquisition leads, inventory status, and sales performance.

Collaborate with the gallery’s marketing and sales teams to strategically position secondary market works for sale.

Qualifications

Experience in an art handling, collections management, or gallery logistics role.

Experience working with private collectors or in the secondary art market is highly preferred.

Knowledge of best practices for handling, packing, and shipping fine art.

Excellent organizational and communication skills.

Ability to lift and move heavy artwork and crates with care.

Comfortable working independently and in collaboration with a small team.

Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic office software.

Passion for the arts and familiarity with contemporary and Indigenous art is a plus.

Current driver’s license and clean driving record
