Summary:

The Resource Development Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director of Resource Development in the creation and management of a strategic, well-coordinated and compelling individual giving, fundraising and community stewardship program with the goal of increasing overall donor engagement, retention, and support for Growing Up NM programs.

The Resource Development Specialist assists in all aspects of running ongoing fundraising campaigns and donor relations and management. Goals of the program include sustaining donor loyalty, increasing donor investment, and distinguishing Growing UP NM from other social service organizations.

The Resource Development Specialist will track donor information in our database, regularly generate detailed reports, manage many aspects of individual and public communications, create clear and compelling fundraising mail and emails, manage events, support fundraising efforts of the Board of Directors, and contribute to the ongoing development and execution of strategies to sustain fundraising. The successful candidate will be creative, energetic, and eager to grow in a demanding, fast-paced environment.

The focus of our work is to demonstrate and implement effective and proven early childhood and family support strategies, prenatal to age five, focused on quality, equity, and access. Growing Up NM utilizes two parallel, mutually informed strategies in all we do: a local programmatic approach and a state-wide policy approach, with each continually informing the other.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Provide support to develop and implement fundraising strategies plan to meet Growing Up NM Annual Campaigns revenue goals and target dates.

Coordinate designated tasks of a comprehensive fundraising strategy.

Manage and maintain donor database including the creation of reports to ensure that all donations are recorded, tracked, and that all donors are properly thanked and recognized.

Cultivate relationships with potential donors, assist in strategy for solicitation of donors, locally, regionally, and nationally.

Collaborate in the development of communications for events and other items, including dates and deadlines for meetings, social media, email, and other marketing strategies

Organize initiatives and events for fundraising.

Assist with the management of donor solicitation and recognition.

Assist with the management of data mining for potential new donors and corporate partners.

Assist with the management of communications including social media, email, and other marketing strategies.

Collaborate and support the Director of Resource Development and the Director of Finance, including reporting donations and their disbursement, in processing the annual financial reporting and tax filings and monthly reporting of the status of meeting the annual campaigns revenue goals.

Conduct financial tracking of donations received.

Represent Growing Up NM in a professional manner at special events or programs connected with Growing Up NM and document activities; events may be held outside regular work hours (evenings/weekends).

Assist with the overall recruitment, training, and coordination of all volunteers throughout the organization.

Perform within the prescribed limits of Growing Up NM ethics and compliance policies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

A deep commitment to Growing Up NM’s mission and values.

Minimum educational level of bachelor’s degree required.

Minimum of three years of professional experience in Philanthropy and/or resource development, or a related/transferable field, ideally with a nonprofit organization.

Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.

Prefer to see three years' experience in donor development and stewardship programs.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.

Direct experience with individual giving strategies, leading events programs, donor relations, and developing donor pipelines for a variety of giving opportunities.

Understanding of fundraising mechanics.

Individual donor relationship experience, either through major or mid-level giving, is strongly preferred.

Strong leadership and management skills.

Must be a critical thinker, analytical, creative and able to develop and improve donor relations strategies that lead to increased donor loyalty and engagement.

Outstanding organizational and planning skills.

Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and tasks at once and move between them seamlessly.

Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and partnership skills.

A collegial and collaborative work style and the ability to work independently and within a team setting.

Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally, demonstrating tact, professionalism, diplomacy, good judgement, and persuasivenesswhen communicating with donors, children, families, and staff at all levels of the organization.

Ability to set well-founded goals and targets and to hold self-accountable.

Demonstrated ability to be relationship rather than transaction focused.

Experience overseeing volunteers, setting priorities and meeting deadlines.

Ability to work well in culturally diverse setting and knowledge of local population served.

Extensive computer knowledge includes Microsoft Office Suite and other software applications for scheduling, record keeping and office management.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality at all times.

Ability to pass a mandatory background clearance required of all childcare workers in the State ofNew Mexico.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, drive, sit for long periods of time and use computer equipment and cell phones. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift 50 pounds.
