Mountain Kids! Program Director

Mountain Kids! Vision is to double the number of children connecting to nature by the year 2030. We plan to expand by increasing year round programming and connecting with schools, teachers and other partner organizations.
Position Summary:
The Program Director will lead and manage all aspects of Mountain Kids! programming, with a balance of field work and office responsibilities. This includes staff selection, curriculum planning, risk management, staff training, and communication with parents and staff. The Director will be actively involved in aspects of outdoor program delivery and on-site activities, ensuring the safety and success of programs. This role is central to advancing our mission of bringing outdoor learning to communities by building strong connections with families, teachers, and partner organizations. We are seeking a candidate that can commit to 3-5 years and currently lives in the four corners region. Salary is a competitive offering in the Santa Fe area.
Primary Responsibilities
Program Planning & Management:
Recruit, onboard, and train staff for year-round programs and camps.
Revise and implement curricula for SFPS, Mountain Quest, and public programs.
Develop and maintain risk management protocols and safety procedures.
Coordinate logistics, including permits, guest speakers, and field trip locations.
Manage program supplies and safety equipment.
Staff Leadership & Support:
Lead field staff meetings, training, evaluations and team-building activities.
Oversee and support counselor performance during programs.
Support and supervise staff during field trips, camp activities, and overnight campouts.
Communication & Community Building:
Foster strong communication with parents, staff, and community partners.
Develop non-violent and conflict resolution skills to support all MK relationships.
Provide weekly program updates, including photos to parents and marketing team.
Initiate outreach to new partner schools as determined by ED.
Support fundraising efforts, including community events.
Program Oversight & Evaluation:
Oversee the delivery of year-round programs, including SFPS, Mountain Quest, After School, and School Break Programs.
Track, assess and report on program performance through surveys and feedback.
Update and revise curriculum as needed based on feedback and results.

Compensation & Benefits:

Annual Salary: $70,000
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (seasonal fluctuation)
Vacation: 3 weeks paid time off (one week over winter break)
Paid Holidays: 5 days, including major holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, plus one floating)
Sick Days: In accordance with New Mexico State law
