Youth Shelters and Family Services is seeking a passionate and compassionate Evening Supervisor to join our team at the Youth Emergency Shelter. The Evening Supervisor will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the young individuals who seek shelter in our facility during evening hours. This position involves providing guidance, support, and leadership to our dedicated staff and the youth we serve.

What would my job responsibilities be?

Under the supervision of the Program Director, participates in the hiring, onboarding, and training of new staff, particularly evening staff.

Creates a team environment with the Youth Service Specialists team that supports the milieu and program to ensure consistency, clarity and safety for youth and staff.

Model appropriate interactions with youth for staff, which are grounded in the Safe Home core principles of positive youth development.

Provides on the job training on a regular basis to model appropriate and effective interventions for youth in the milieu.

Provide on-going coaching to staff in applying all models and address any staff concerns.

Hold staff accountable for paperwork and programmatic elements that are required by funders.

Address discipline issues as they arise and actively participate in decisions about performance improvement plans, and terminations with the Director of program Services and Human Resources Manager.

Must actively seek program participants and must create an outreach program/plan.

Ensure the successful delivery of the Shelter service definition, certification and licensing requirements, including case load management.

Assist in providing case management services from screening, to intake, to discharge.

Provide information and referral assistance regarding available support from appropriate social service agencies and/or community programs.

Maintain accurate daily logs records, monthly outcome reports, comprehensive case files for each participant, and provide oversight of the file maintenance procedure.

Provide oversight of facility and grounds including maintenance, vehicle inspection and maintenance, and ensuring all record keeping responsibilities of such are taken care of.

What are the qualifications and experience I need to become an Evening Supervisor?

Proficient with computer software skills including Microsoft Windows, Excel, and Word.

Excellent oral communication skills, particularly listening, mediation, and writing skills.

Knowledge of community resources and experience in providing referral services to clients.

The ability to establish and set appropriate limits with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence.

Ability to adapt to shifting priorities.

Ability to relate in cross-cultural environments.

Must be able to drive company vehicles.

Ability to organize team roles and evaluate employee performance.

Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills.

CPR/ First Aid Certified (will train).

Valid Driver’s License, insurable under YSFS automobile policy.

Must be over 21 years of age to meet the minimum eligibility requirements of our automobile insurance carrier.

Experience with homeless and at-risk youth preferred.

Case management experience required.

What are the minimum education requirements?

Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field preferred.

OR bachelor’s degree in human services preferred.

OR a two-year degree in Human related services and at least one-year related experience

OR a high school diploma or GED and at least two years related experience.

What are the scheduled shifts you are looking to fill?

Tuesday through Friday - 12PM -8PM
