Santa Fe Workshops: Media Coordinator Job Description

Seasonal Position, June 17-August 2, 2024

The Santa Fe Workshops, located in Santa Fe, New Mexico, offer world-class creative courses in photography and writing. The majority of classes are hosted each summer on-site in Santa Fe, and are taught by a roster of internationally-renowned photographers, authors, and artists. The Workshops are currently seeking employees to assist with the 2024 Summer Season.

The Media Coordinator opportunity offers an accelerated learning opportunity within the fields of photography, social media, and technology to develop skill sets related to video production and editing, social media content creation, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer service.

The Media Coordinator will be responsible for creating video and photographic content that depicts the educational experience of attending classes in Santa Fe during our summer season. The coordinator will work closely with the Marketing Department to generate weekly content for all social media platforms, including Instagram stories and Reels. The coordinator will also oversee the production and presentation of end-of-week videos, outtakes, and other materials that will be enjoyed by SFW students in a final Friday night show. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner, excellent at trouble-shooting, and bring creativity, humor, and an efficient editing workflow to the position.

Below are the specific responsibilities of the position of Media Coordinator.

Content Creation/Marketing Responsibilities:

● Weekly content generation (ie: raw video footage or behind the scenes images) for all social media platforms (primarily Instagram and Facebook), to be used and packaged by the social marketing team.

● Assist Marketing Department to build an engaging and interactive presence on social media, including but limited to: providing various forms of content on a daily basis, live streaming and IGTV, and tagging students, instructors, and models.

● Go on location with photography classes to capture behind-the-scenes footage of our students working with models, instructors, etc.

● Create “end-of-week” video presentations that depict the educational experience of the Santa Fe Workshops, for viewing at Friday night celebrations.

● Organize and deliver promotional images to the Marketing Department on a weekly basis.

A/V Responsibilities:

● Support course assistants to create weekly slideshows of student work in Premiere Pro, Canva, and other software platforms.

● Set up and produce multimedia presentations. This includes, but is not limited to: assembling and troubleshooting projectors, audio equipment, selecting playlists for intermission, cleaning the presentation hall, etc.

● Contact instructors to send in lecture materials for instructor presentations and coordinate practice runs with instructors beforehand.

● Maintain and repair workshops equipment, including laptops, projectors, and external hard drives as necessary.

● Provide technical support for workshop staff, instructors, and participants during the summer season, including troubleshooting technical issues that arise.

Requirements/Qualifications:

● Recent completion or current enrollment in a film or media based Bachelor’s program

● Experience with social media content creation and/ or content marketing principles

● Working knowledge of Digital SLR and mirrorless cameras

● Working knowledge of computer operating systems, i.e. Mac OS and Windows 10

● Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, with a focus on Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and

Premiere Pro. Familiarity with any additional creative editing software platforms or apps, such as

Canva, a plus.

● Knowledge of wired and wireless internet networks

● Strong troubleshooting skills

● Fast-learner with the ability to quickly pick up new technical skills

● Ability to receive constructive feedback and apply recommendations

● Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

● Detail-oriented and organized with ability to manage multiple projects.

● Strong communication skills

● Observe confidentiality guidelines with respects to faculty and participants

Schedule/Availability:

The Media Coordinator must be available for the totality of the 2024 Summer Season, which runs for 7weeks from June 17-August 2, 2024 at the New Mexico School for the Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This includes one week of training (June 17-21), 5 weeks of classes (June 24-July 26), and one “Clean-Up Week” (July 29-August 2). Please note that housing is not provided by SFW.

The Media Coordinator works Monday through Friday. Evening hours are expected. This position is performed for a daily stipend of $180.00, plus reimbursement of incurred mileage expenses that are Workshop related. Lunches are provided Monday through Friday, as are group dinners hosted on Friday nights. Please note that meals are not included during training and clean up weeks. The coordinator is responsible for submitting an invoice each week, including any reimbursable expenses. Please note that this compensation does not include allowance for tax obligations.

Covid Policy:

For all in-person workshops in 2024, Santa Fe Workshops highly recommends that all participants, staff,

and instructors attending be up to date with Covid vaccinations (per definition of the CDC).
