Job Description

Title: Maintenance Worker Classification 2021

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor Position 1034

Summary: Incumbent is responsible for performing facilities maintenance work.

Grade: 2

Salary: Commensurate with Experience

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Tasks and Responsibilities

1. Perform routine facilities maintenance work including sweeping, dusting, moping, vacuuming and general cleaning.

2. Emptying of trash collectors and waste baskets

3. Performance of additional tasks as assigned by management.

Required Skills and Abilities

Ability to work well with individuals of varying backgrounds and skill levels

Participate as an active team member

Ability to perform maintenance work, unit maintenance, painting and preparing for lease-up plus miscellaneous repair work.

Ability and skill in operating light – medium machinery and tools

Demonstrated ability to work independently, and carryout work assignments

Ability to know and work with basic household chemicals.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School education beyond Grade 10

Work Experience: 3 months working in custodial work.

Substitute: None

Special Requirements/ Able to lift up to 80 pounds, 5-gallon buckets, plus other type materials such as cement, water heaters, appliances, etc.

Working Conditions: Considerable exposure to machinery, motorized equipment, tools, metals and chemicals. Frequent standing, walking, lifting and other physical exertion. Must have a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
