Seeking a Horticulture Specialist to support our landscape maintenance division with quality control, garden supervision, training and client relations. The candidate will apply and train our crews with their knowledge and experience maintaining trees, shrubs, flowers, and ornamental plants at client properties to enhance plant growth, improve plant quality, and ensure plant resistance to pests and diseases.
Essential Skills:
English and Spanish Language capability required.
Proficiency in various gardening techniques, including planting, pruning, and transplanting, and fertilization with emphasis on organics.
A deep understanding of southwest plant species, their needs, and how they thrive in the Santa Fe environment.
Excellent observational skills with the ability to identify and address issues related to plant health and growth.
Identifying and treating plant diseases and pest, using appropriate methods for pest and weed control.
Understanding soil types, composition, and how they impact plant growth.
Requires at least 65% in the field time outside in year around Santa Fe weather.
Be detail oriented, punctual, efficient with time management and record keeping.
The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, clients, and other professionals.
The ability to inspire, coach and train landscape team leaders in plant identification & care, gardening techniques, plant disease and pest identification.
Assist in identifying appropriate watering schedules, and monitoring plant health.
Communication and Collaboration:
Conduct client property inspections providing guidance on plant care, interacting with clients, and collaborating with other team members to improve quality of service.
Build relationships by listening to client’s planting, garden’s needs, wants and wishes then passing this information to office team members.
Inspire, coach and train landscape team leaders in plant identification, proper care, gardening techniques, plant disease and infestation identification, etc., and develop training program.
Join other team members to meet and consult with new client prospects in developing new client business.
Provide property and garden updates to clients via emails, to include photographs.
Identify and suggest lead/project ideas at each client residence to sales team. (i.e. Mulch, gravel, plantings, edging, rock & boulders, lighting, etc.)
Keep excellent records of client properties and services for accounting department.
