Floral Processing Position at Local Flower Shop

Job Summary:

We are seeking a diligent and efficient Floral Processor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing, processing, and maintaining the quality of flowers, as well as ensuring the health and presentation of retail plants. This role requires attention to detail, the ability to work quickly on their feet, and a passion for the botanical arts and floral arrangements.

Key Responsibilities:

Inventory Management: Check and maintain inventory of flowers and supplies. Report low stock items and assist in restocking as necessary.

Quality Control:

Inspect incoming floral shipments for quality and accuracy. Document any discrepancies or damages.

Flower Processing: Prepare and process flowers, including trimming, cutting, and arranging as per specific requirements.

Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all tools and equipment are clean and in good working condition. Perform routine maintenance as needed.

Work Area Setup:

Prepare and organize the work area for efficient processing of orders. Ensure a clean and safe workspace.

Order Preparation:

Work alongside designers to prepare required flowers for daily orders.

Plant Care: Ensure the health and presentation of all retail plants, including watering, pruning, and fertilizing as necessary.

Communication:

Coordinate with team members and communicate any important updates or changes promptly.

End-of-Day Cleanup: Perform thorough cleaning and maintenance of the work area, tools, and equipment at the end of the day. Dispose of waste properly and ensure the area is ready for the next day.

Customer Service:

Assist with customer inquiries and ensure a positive customer experience. Maintain a professional and friendly demeanor at all times.

Environmental Control:

Monitor and adjust environmental conditions (light, humidity, temperature) to ensure optimal plant & flower health.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Previous experience in floral processing, plant care, or a related field is preferred.

Knowledge of cut flowers, plant care, and maintenance techniques.

Ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).

Flexible and able to adapt to changing priorities.

Work Environment:

Primarily works in a floral processing area and retail space, which may involve standing for long periods and handling various floral materials.

Schedule:

Needed Monday, Thursday, Friday from 9-4 and Saturday 10-4. Hours and days may change based on workload. May require occasional work on holidays based on business needs.
