Civil Engineering Technician

William J. Miller Engineers is seeking a motivated Civil Engineering Technician to join our growing team. The successful candidate will work on challenging civil engineering projects involving data collection, design, and problem-solving in the field of water resources engineering. Responsibilities may include hydrographic data collection, CADD, construction observation, assistance with construction plans and specifications, and assistance with report preparation. In addition to technical engineering work, the successful candidate is expected to assist with general office work including maintaining survey equipment, coordinating field vehicle maintenance, and assisting with administrative tasks. This position will involve frequent regional travel (6-8 days per month).

Minimum Qualifications:

Two-year technical certificate or equivalent training and work experience directly related civil engineering.

Experience with Autodesk products, specifically Civil3D.

Experience reading, interpreting and developing construction plans and specifications.

Experience with preparation of contract documents for construction projects.

Ability and willingness to conduct fieldwork independently or as part of a collaborative team.

Comfortable working in and around rivers and water bodies.

Proficiency with Microsoft 365 Office products.

Legal authorization to work in the United States without the need for sponsorship.

Valid driver’s license. and acceptable driving record

Preferred Qualifications:

Three or more years of experience as a civil technician or designer

Experience using GIS to perform geospatial analysis and mapping.

Survey experience operating RTK, leveling, and total station data collection equipment.

Construction observation and project administration

FAA Part 107 UAS Pilot License
