Summary:  Is the first assistant to the VP/CFO. Has knowledge of and is able to perform all functions on all products and services of the accounting department. Is responsible for managing the accounting department and systems, financial reporting, reconciliation, and analysis functions of the organization. Supervises Accounting Department personnel to ensure that appropriate levels of training, performance, accuracy, accountability are present and ensures that members are served professionally and efficiently. Utilizes knowledge and experience in exercising discretion and independent judgment in resolving problems and answering questions.Responsibilities:Have thorough knowledge of all phases of functions performed in the accounting department including:Share Draft processingPayroll DeductionACH/ Direct DepositAccounts PayableGeneral LedgerFinancial AnalysisResponsible for:Prepares and submits NCUA Form 5300, Federal Reserve Collateral Schedule & Fredie Mac FinancialsCalculating and preparing monthly Fixed Assets and PrepaidsAssists with the preparation of the Credit Union’s annual budget and monitoring of periodic budget to actual resultsCalculating, reconciling and paying monthly Backup Withholding including Annual 945 Tax formPreparing and recording monthly Insurance PremiumsPreparing Monthly Board of Directors financial packageGeneral Ledger month end close including financial reports. Also make sure Core System, Credit Cards, First Mortgage systems balance with the general ledger at the end of the month.Various Bank and Account ReconciliationsPosting and Reconciling of all Loan ParticipationsReconciling and posting Investment purchases, redemptions and interest including Average Life Calculation for Investment Portfolio.Prepare monthly ALM monthly reports and assist to analysis the credit union concentration limits.Annual Escheat Reporting.Prepare monthly visible equity information to be uploaded by VP of Lending. Once the information is uploaded in Visible Equity program, balance loan portfolio, delinquency, and charge-off & recoveries against the general ledger.Reviews and recommends new methods and procedures to make daily operations more efficient. Performs considerable short-term planning, scheduling, and coordinating within area of responsibility.Compliance and preparing the department for internal and external audits, regulatory examsParticipates in annual audits and examinations by overseeing preparation of materials, providing necessary data, and implementing findings as directed.Able to interpret Credit Union policy for accounting personnel and to train them in following regulations and procedures. Able to make recommendations in changes of policy and procedures as needed.Assume responsibility for the assets, security of the department and overall safety and wellbeing of the staff.Support the efforts of staff members to respond to member complaints; exercise ability to intervene and resolve problems by applying Credit Union policy with good judgment in responding to discrepancies or problems with member accounts.Provide training to staff about changes in regulation, policies, and procedure related to the Accounting department responsibilities.Request wire for funding Investments purchases or upcoming purchase for Upgrade and CBS.Complete other duties, tasks, and projects as assigned. Responsible for the coordination and evaluation of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
