Develop and direct process for testing controls risks, including the identification and articulation of emerging concerns or trends, and upon finding opportunities, work with management to develop appropriate recommendations. Exert leadership that serves to reinforce a culture of transparency and continuous improvement in support of the Company’s business strategy.The VP, Internal Audit will ideally be based on the East Coast of the United States, serving as Otis’ senior internal audit executive. Reporting directly to the Senior VP & Corporate Secretary, the incumbent will regularly meet with and provide reports to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and maintain strong ties to the EVP, CFO, EVP, General Counsel and other senior leaders in the Finance and Legal functions.Key Accountabilities:

Lead team of professional auditors (internal and outsourced) in sufficient number and with the necessary qualifications and diversity of skills to effectively carry out the global internal audit function of the world's leading elevator and escalator manufacturing, installation and service company.

Responsible for internal audits at all Otis global locations and provide adequate audit policies, programs and instructions for the conduct of these audits.

Establish an audit schedule that is acceptable to the Executive Vice President & General Counsel, Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer and the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors; and carry out audits in accordance with such schedule.

Report regularly to the Audit Committee, including regular interaction with the Audit Committee Chair, on all aspects of internal audit operations.

Report to Corporate and Business Unit management; the Senior Vice President & Chief Accounting Officer; the Executive Vice President & General Counsel; the Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer; the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors; and the Business Unit Chief Financial Officers, the results and findings of audits and specific recommendations for improvements.

Follow up on important findings and recommendations of the Internal Audit Department and the Corporation's independent public accountants to assure that effective remedial actions are taken by the divisions and subsidiaries, and report action on major matters to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors.

Oversee the development of internal auditors; provide progression to increased auditing responsibilities or to finance/accounting positions elsewhere in the Corporation.

Identify, analyze and resolve complex auditing and accounting issues.

Responsible for the completion of other tasks related to this position as they are assigned by management.

Provide leadership in the development of an effective organization and its members, ensuring timely and complete feedback provided to all reports which enables them to improve their overall performance and contribution to the Company.

Experience & Qualifications:

Bachelor’s or graduate degree in accounting or business administration.

Advanced studies in business administration, financial or business management or related subjects and attainment of a CPA, CMA, or CIA certificate are desirable.

Extensive audit or related financial and/or accounting experience in public company accounting with emphasis in manufacturing, service and/or sales operations.

Prior experience within managerial positions and team development essential.

A broad understanding of business organizations, functions, management concepts and a thorough understanding of audit techniques are essential.

Substantive experience in other finance-related areas (e.g., controllership, FP&A) a plus.
