Title: PRN Youth Empowerment Specialist

Supervisor: Shelter Supervisor

Department: Safe Home

Shifts Available: Thursday, Friday, Saturday from 6a-4p and Sunday from 12-10p

Pay Rate: $11-$13 DOE

Do you love helping at-risk young people?

The primary responsibility of the Youth Empowerment Specialist (YES) to develop, assist and maintain the residential component of a Safe Home as it relates to the care and treatment of youth aged 11-17.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide supervision and monitor resident behavior.

Provide crisis intervention as need or as directed.

Coordinate, monitor and participate in all activities.

Utilize effective, positive communication skills with peers, staff, families, community, and general public

Facilitate house meetings and life skill classes.

Support, engage, empower and assist youth in meeting their goals.

Work as a team with other staff to ensure consistency, clarity and safety for the youth

Must understand the practice of good boundaries with youth

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be 21 years of age

Minimum of High School or GED with 2 years of experience working with the target -population or relevant experience in a human services field

Willingness to work flexible hours including some weekends, evenings, and overnight

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to pass comprehensive criminal, sexual offender, MVD background checks.

Must have car, valid driver's license, and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.
